Snug Harbor presents
Thursday January 18th, 2024 7:30pm (Doors: 7:00pm)

From gospel roots in a New Orleans church to international stages, Stephen Walker's journey with music began at age 5. Introduced to instruments by his father, Bishop Lawrence Walker Sr., Stephen explored piano, clarinet, and trumpet before embracing the trombone at age 12. Quickly rising as a prodigious talent, he studied at the renowned New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). By 16, Stephen began his first international tour in Greece alongside GRAMMY Award winning trumpeter, Irvin Mayfield.

Mentored by GRAMMY-winning producer and trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, Stephen has collaborated with luminaries like Harry Connick Jr, Brandford Marsalis, Doreen Ketchens, Trombone Shorty, Nicholas Payton, Kermit Ruffins, Davell Crawford, Deacon John, Shannon Powell, James Andrews, Herlin Riley, Bob French, Leon "Kid Chocolate" Brown, Calvin Johnson, Leroy Jones, Shamarr Allen, and many more. He is currently touring with the legendary Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Stephen's diverse repertoire, rooted in gospel and branching into jazz, funk, Latin, and contemporary styles, showcases his versatile musicianship.

Tonight, he presents his contemporary New Orleans collective, Stephen Walker n' Em, featuring
