ORANGE COFFEE with the AMINA SCOTT QUARTET

GRAMMY Award winning artist Kat Rodriguez, also known as Orange Coffee, is a dynamic saxophonist, singer and educator. She has traveled the world with Beyoncé since 2006 as her saxophonist and is currently on the Renaissance World Tour with her.

She has also worked with many other renowned artists, such as The Dixie Chicks, Jay-Z, Kathy Sledge, Gladys Knight, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, May J Blige, Kierra Sheard, JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise, George Michael, and Nicki Minaj, to name a few. Kat has graced many stages as a singer, sharing her rhaspy classic voice through her own album "Mockery" and her new self-titled EP, under her new stage name, Orange Coffee.

Kat has a passion for teaching and passing on the knowledge she has accrued during the years with her Masters in Teaching Fine Arts from the New School in NYC, especially in communities that do not get the support they deserve. She has been instrumental in creating programs in Westchester like Sing for Hope, formerly known as Young At Arts, and New Visions/AMS in the Bronx, which have served over 1,000 students. Kat has also taught as a Professor at Brooklyn College as the Jazz Band Director.

Tonight, we welcome Kat to the Snug stage for the first time, as special guest in collaboration with the Amina Scott Quartet

Amina Scott is an upright and electric bassist, composer, and arranger hailing from Oakland, CA.  While rooted in the tradition of Black American Music, Scott’s influences range from Ron Carter to J Dilla to traditional New Orleans music. She combines these various facets of Black Music to create stories about her own life that she shares in hopes of connecting all that she meets with one another. Currently based in New Orleans, Amina leads her own band and she has performed with various artists including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Steve Turre, Wessell Warmdaddy Anderson, Nicholas Payton, Jamison Ross, Joanne Brackeen, Don Vappie, Herlin Riley, Germaine Bazzle, and more.

One set only tonight, starting promptly at 9pm. This is an initmate, limited-capacity show, so advance tickets are strongly suggested. If tickets remain available by day of show, remaining tickets will be sold at walk-up beginning at 8:00pm when doors open. Online Sales close day of show at 7pm.
