Mahmoud “Mood” Chouki is a Moroccan master guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and educator currently living and working in New Orleans. His art draws together music from around the globe, exploring how music may speak across cultural divides.

In addition to training and performing with conservatories around the world, Chouki also teaches music at the Lycée Français de la Nouvelle Orléans, and is the music curator for monthly programs at the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA). He composed the music score for the 2021 Sundance Award-winning film, “Ma Belle, Ma Beauty,” directed by New Orleans based filmmaker, Marion Hill, and subsequently in 2021, Chouki was awarded 2020’s “Best Emerging Artist” by OffBeat Magazine’s annual Best of the Beat Awards.

Most recently, Mahmoud was named New Orleans' "Best World Music Artist" at Gambit Weekly's 2022 Big Easy Music Awards. His New World Ensemble has been steadily wow'ing audiences for the past year, growing with acclaim.

Fresh out of the recording studio here in New Orleans this spring, Mood recently released the first single,"Mahmoud's Blues," off his forthcoming new album, due out later this year.

Dinner is always separate from concerts at Snug Harbor, as our restaurant side is separare from our jazz club side, though both are conveniently located within the same building, to make having dinner prior to your showtime easy and convenient. There is NO food service inside the jazz club, however beverage table service is always available in the club. Please be sure to make an advance table reservation via OpenTable.com for dinner in the restaurant, or be sure to arrive at least 90 Minutes or more before your ticketed showtime, in order to guarantee complete dinner service before getting seated for your show. 8pm ticket holders can also request a dinner table in the restaurant for immediately following the show.
