David Torkanowsky Organ Quartet with Nick Hempton

Born in New Orleans as the son of classical conductor Werner Torkanowsky and flamenco artist Theresa Torkanowsky, David Torkanowsky has grown to be  one of New Orleans’ premier contemporary jazz pianists, composers, and arrangers. Perhaps best known in the Crescent City as a member of Astral Project, David Torkanowsky has also played with Danny Barker, David Lasti, Irma Thomas,  Zigaboo Modeliste of The Meters, Anders Osborne, and Ellis Marsalis. 

In his 50-plus year career, Torkanowsky has appeared on nearly 200 recordings and toured with Boney James and served as long-time music director for Dianne Reeves. A prolific writer and arranger, he also has film score credit for the films“The Big Easy” (1996), “Alabama Moon” (2009), and “Preacher” (2016). Tonight, he presents his organ trio alongside special guest Nick Hampton.

Kind Reminder:  Snug Harbor does NOT serve the full menu inside the Music Room. We do offer cheese and charcuterie tray options. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts, only the charcuterie, cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room. However, we encourage you to arrive at least 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for your ticketed showtime.
