TOPSY CHAPMAN & SOLID HARMONY

Topsy Chapman has charmed crowds all over the world with her authentic style and clear melodious voice for over 30 years, and is regarded as a New Orleans legend. To hear her live is a pure delight for people of all ages.
Raised in the gospel music tradition, that gospel-tinged fervor is still evident in her voice today, no matter the style she sings with some of the top musicians in New Orleans. As one of the original cast members of the early 1980s off-Broadway hit musical “One Mo’ Time” set in 1920s New Orleans Black vaudeville, Topsy gained national and international recognition. This acclaim created ongoing demand in years to come for performances by the family band she founded with her daughters, Topsy Chapman & Solid Harmony.
After studying and playing with the respected clarinetist and educator Alvin Batiste, her daughter Yolanda Robinson has earned her own notoriety among peers as one of New Orleans’ finest female vocalists of jazz, blues and gospel. Whether she is fronting the legendary Original Tuxedo Jazz Band or singing with her mother’s group, as she will be tonight, Yolanda is known for her sultry, soulful vocal stylings.
Topsy’s other daughter Jolynda “Kiki” Chapman has also made her own place in the jazz scene, as well as notable performances with musical theater giants like Harry Shearer, Melissa Etheridge, and Stanton Moore. Summoning her deep roots in gospel, combined with her rhythm & blues skills, Jolynda has the ability to create a musical environment unlike anyone else’s.
TONIGHT: Expect a mosaic of jazz, blues and gospel, tied together with unique swing harmonies and backed by an all-star New Orleans band.

All dinner table reservations must be attached to advance concert tickets. Dinner Service without Advance Concert Tickets is first-come, first-served based on availability upon arrival. Full Bar is Open 6pm – Midnight for all on show nights, with or without tickets.
Kind Reminder: Snug Harbor does not serve food inside the Music Room. Only cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room, in order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts. However, we encourage you to arrive 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for the show. 8pm ticket holders can also enjoy dinner, dessert or appetizers after the show, with Dining Room seating only guaranteed by submitting your table request before 8pm.

All performances are currently sold at half the normal audience capacity, creating an even more intimate listening experience. Covid mandates are honored with masks required for all, and seating more distanced than our usual. Please be prepared to present a valid proof of Covid vaccination or negative PCR test dated within the past 3 days, with matching Photo ID for entry. No ticket refunds are issued if due to lack of Covid prevention preparation at the door.
