RYAN HANSELER & RICARDO PASCAL: Tribute to Thelonious Monk

Pianist and composer Ryan Hanseler’s professional career has spanned more than two decades now. His discography boasts countless appearances as a first-call collaborator and widely respected arranger. An inclusive expression and a commitment to melodic invention has allowed the New Orleans-based artist to collaborate on stage and in the studio with such distinctive voices as Branford Marsalis, Kobie Watkins, Dee Dee Bridgewater and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Adonis Rose, Cyrille Aimée, Jason Marsalis, Wessel Anderson, Herlin Riley and Delfeayo Marsalis, in whose Jazz Orchestra he performed every Wednesday night at Snug Harbor before the 2020 pandemic. Ryan has hosted numerous clinics and academic presentations around the world and is an artist in residence at East Carolina University. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Jazz Composition and Arranging from North Carolina Central University under the direction of Dr. Ira Wiggins and mentors Branford Marsalis and Joey Calderazzo.

Ricardo Pascal has worked professionally as a saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator for 15 years. As an artist heavily rooted in the jazz tradition, his musicianship has attracted collaborations with many great artists. For over a decade, he has performed with The Modern Jazz Generation, lead by Marcus Roberts, in various settings, from performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Village Vanguard to an appearance on CBS’s 60 Minutes. Ricardo has also been featured as a soloist and arranger with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra for 8 years in collaboration with musical director Adonis Rose. His work has taken him all over the world with artists such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Cyrille Aimée, Herlin Riley, Jason Marsalis, Leroy Jones, Jamison Ross, China Moses, Quiana Lynell, and more. Ricardo has given classes, clinics, and lessons all over North American universities and currently serves on the faculty of Savannah Music Festival Jazz Academy. He earned his Masters in Jazz at the University of New Orleans and his undergraduate degree from Florida State University under the direction of Marcus Roberts.

All dinner table reservations must be attached to advance concert tickets. Dinner Service without advance concert tickets is first-come, first-served based on availability upon arrival. 

Full Bar is Open 6pm – Midnight for all, on show nights, with or without tickets. 

Kind Reminder: Snug Harbor does not serve food inside the Music Room. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts, only cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room. However, we encourage you to arrive 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for the show. 8pm ticket holders can also enjoy dinner, dessert or appetizers after the show, with Dining Room seating only guaranteed by submitting your table request before 8pm. 

 As announced by the City of New Orleans, as of March 24th, Snug Harbor is no longer requiring valid proof of Covid vaccination or negative test for entry, and while masks are still suggested when not actively eating or drinking indoors, they are now optional for all. We are now seating at just under our regular audience capacity. 

However, with our intimate venue’s regularly limited seating capacity, advance tickets are still strongly suggested in order to guarantee seats for this show.
