JASON MARSALIS: TRIBUTE TO ELLIS MARSALIS JR

TONIGHT: We continue our tradition of honoring the legacy of our late piano patriarch and jazz luminary, Ellis Marsalis Jr. each Friday, as that is the night of the week that Ellis held court for his local residency nearly every week here at Snug Harbor for nearly 30 years. So on Fridays we host bandleaders and special guests who were longtime collaborators with Ellis, as well as the music of his accomplished sons.
Jason Marsalis is the youngest son of piano patriarch and jazz luminary Ellis Marsalis Jr. and their famous New Orleans music family, declared “America’s First Family of Jazz” upon the presentation of their NEA Jazz Masters Award in 2011, the nation’s highest jazz honor. In addition to his renown as a drummer, Jason is also a respected vibraphonist whose 2018 release “Melody Reimagined” with his 21st Century Trad Jazz Band rose swiftly to the top of the Billboard jazz chart. With a fire in his heart and a passion for the music, his will to swing has never been more resolute. The maturity and the command Jason possesses over his music is clearly evident to those who have heard or seen him.
Friday nights were Ellis Marsalis Jr’s regular residential night here at Snug for over 25 years, and to keep guarding that flame, we now present members of Ellis’ family and his personal band from over the years as bandleaders each Friday night.

Shows at 8pm & 10pm.
Doors at 7:00pm & 9:30pm.

Full Bar is Open 6pm – Midnight for all, on show nights, with or without tickets.
Kind Reminder: Snug Harbor does not serve food inside the Music Room. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts, only cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room. However, we encourage you to arrive 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for the show. 9pm ticket holders can also enjoy dinner, dessert or appetizers after the show, with Dining Room seating only guaranteed by submitting your table request before 8pm.

As announced by the City of New Orleans, as of March 24th, Snug Harbor is no longer requiring valid proof of Covid vaccination or negative test for entry, and while masks are still suggested while not eating or drinking indoors, they are now optional for all. We are now seating at just under our regular audience capacity.
However, with our intimate venue’s regularly limited seating capacity, advance tickets are still strongly suggested in order to guarantee seats for this acclaimed show! This show WILL sell-out.
