DR. MICHAEL WHITE’s LIBERTY QUARTET

Dr. Michael White is a widely regarded clarinetist, bandleader, composer, jazz historian and educator that plays classic New Orleans jazz in the George Lewis style. Dr. White has served as guest director for several Jazz at Lincoln Center concerts relating to traditional New Orleans jazz, and is a senior professor of language and music at Xavier University.
When asked to share his musical philosophy, Dr. White states, “…one of the lessons that I learned, and I try to teach this to my students, is that one of the values of listening to jazz, especially New Orleans jazz, is not just for the danceable nature and the great music that it is, but also because of the lessons that it teaches and that can be used today. And one of those great lessons is that you have to improvise. You have to be able to take what comes and make something good happen with it.”
Tonight, Dr. White presents his jazz quartet, featuring:

Gregg Stafford – trumpet, vocals
Detroit Brooks – banjo
Mitchell Player – bass
Shows at 8pm & 10pm.
Doors at 7:00pm & 9:30pm.

Full Bar is Open 5pm – Midnight for all, on show nights, with or without tickets.
Kind Reminder: Snug Harbor does not serve food inside the Music Room. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts, only cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room. However, we encourage you to arrive at least 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for the show. All dinner reservations for prior to 8pm Shows must be confirmed for sometime between 5:00pm – 6:45pm, latest. 8pm ticket holders can also enjoy dinner, dessert or appetizers after the show, with Dining Room seating only guaranteed by submitting your table request before 8pm. 10pm ticket holders can request dinner reservations for anytime 5pm – 8:30pm.

As announced by the City of New Orleans, as of March 24th 2022, Snug Harbor is no longer requiring valid proof of Covid vaccination or negative test for entry, and while masks are still suggested when not actively eating or drinking indoors, they are now optional for all. We are now seating at just under our regular audience capacity.
However, with our intimate venue’s regularly limited seating capacity, advance tickets are still strongly suggested in order to guarantee seats for this show! This show WILL sell-out.
