Cindy Scott is recognized in the jazz vocal community as a singer’s singer. Her technical mastery and deep commitment to lyrical and musical expression has earned her loyal fans around the world. Originally hailing from Tupelo, Mississippi, Cindy Scott has lived a life steeped in all forms of American roots music; jazz, gospel, and southern soul. She grew up in an extended family full of talented musicians and passionate educators and was singing parts at the family jams from a very young age.
Her earliest formal training was on classical flute, and she went on to earn her first college degree on a flute scholarship. She also plays guitar, bamboo flute and hand percussion, and is a composer and lyricist. Scott has lived all over the Southern US as well as in Germany, Mexico and Hungary. She speaks German and Spanish, and has Masters degrees in both Jazz Performance and International Business.
Cindy took a full-time teaching position at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in 2016 and relocated to Boston. Cindy returns for a rare Snug Harbor appearance to release her fourth CD as a bandleader, “Woman in the Mirror.” As part of this special show, Cindy welcomes Houston percussionist Ilya Janos, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Adam Bellard, bassist Matt Booth, and long-time musical collaborator, guitarist Brian Seeger. Come celebrate this love-filled and very personal music with Cindy and the band. Both physical CDs and download cards will be available the night of the performance.
